Learn respondent demographics. The "# of respondents" column is the number of survey respondents who identified with the group listed in the adjacent column. The “% of respondents” column is the percent of all respondents who belong to that group. Respondents are included as “Unknown” if they skip a demographic question, select “prefer not to answer” to a demographic question, or provide conflicting responses in one class’ survey compared to another.
Check your respondents’ representativeness. Compare the table to what you know about your students. For example, if 90% of your students are members of structurally disadvantaged racial and ethnic groups, but only 40% of your respondents are, then you are under-surveying that group of students.
How do I obtain a more representative sample of survey respondents?
What does "structurally disadvantaged race" mean in the report tables and bar graphs?
For focal group counts, what do you mean by “in some classes”?
